I have yet to meet a person who enjoys moving. Even though the new home/location is (hopefully) better than the previous one, it's still filled with tons of logistical, financial and space challenges. I suppose if we were all nomadic and had less possessions (e.g. like the shepherds of Mongolia) we'd move more often and would be used to it.

The thing I hate the most about moving is cleaning the old place and getting it ready for the new tenant. That and living out of boxes for several days/weeks/months until every thing gets put in its new place.

We moved just over a year ago into smaller quarters to take care of my mother-in-law. (Note: the upside is that the yard is much bigger, our cats love it, and we are on a much quieter street.)  She is recently widowed and it is that time of life when we take on the privilege and responsibility of taking care of our folks. That part we enjoy. But the selling/giving away/throwing away of old stuff we no longer need was time consuming (and frustrating), but also liberating once we disposed of it.

As a kid I moved several times in my first 20 years. I hated it then, and I hate it now. I hope that we only have to move once more in our lifetime, after my mother-in-law passes on. Time will tell.

My name is Oedi and I soar amidst the stars far from the planet of my birth. I guess this starship is the closest thing I've got to a home now, for I am a refugee and an outlaw. Vanth Dreadstar, Syzygy Darklock, Willow 327, Rainbow and Skeevo are my family. We are revolutionaries. Our goal? To bring an end to the 200 year old war between the Instrumentality and the Monarchy!
