I see that this thread is no longer stickied, so it's up to us to keep it alive. I'm not sure I'm ready to let it die... hey, I took the day off from work yesterday (Mon 02-26-07) to recuperate from the whole thing.

It seems like you guys had a lot of fun, engaging in all sorts of zany antics, high jinks and tom foolery in the name of celebrating this wonderful medium. Maybe next year I'll finagle it so that I can hang out with you guys for a while, instead of randomly running into a few of you as was the case this year and last (LikeIAlwaysDo, I'd have been happy to postpone my visit to the food court to process your renewal, it would have helped to justify my Exhibitor's badge... and Gormuu, I e-mailed you Jim's e-mail address), though I guess I'm accustomed to being more of a lone wolf at these things... which does have its benefits.

How do you guys handle it when one of you wants to spend more time at a booth than the rest, or when one of you is ready to leave a booth but everyone else is still engrossed? Or are you all in sync all of the time?

I collected a few autographs, mostly on index cards, which is fine with me since I like autographs for their own sake. I got Jim Shooter, J. Michael Straczynski, Gene Colan, Frank Brunner, Keith Giffen, Paul Levitz, Carmine Infantino, and even Richard Comely of Captain Canuck fame. I got an original Dondi sketch from Irwin Hasen; this was the first time I've paid for a sketch.

But my greatest NYCC '07 moment has to be Tom Beland stopping by the MoCCA booth to see me. In case you don't know, I'm a major fan of Tom's True Story, Swear To God (originally self-published, now an Image title), and I had e-mailed him about getting his original mini-comics to complete my collection. He said he'd bring a set with him to the NYCC.

Well, Tom not only presented me with the mini-comics, but he also gave me a TSSTG cap.

And...

And...

...he also gave me an original TSSTG page, personally inscribed to me. Not only that, but he wouldn't even take any money for the minis (the whole reason behing our meeting was so that I could buy them from him)! He told me this was his way of showing his appreciation for my support.

:)
