Saw Green Lantern last week. I don't think it was the best of the comic book related movies, and especially for DC Comics based properties. It felt like they tried to cram in so much, and then make a story from that. I've been reading GL comics for many years, and could tell they definitely based it on the more recent Geoff Johns' re-writing of the whole GL mythology from the comics in the last 6-7 years since bringing back Hal Jordan in 2004 from GL: Rebirth. It felt awkward to me, its okay entertainment, but not anything great. I expected better. I was never happy even with Ryan Reynolds' casting either. He never seems like Hal Jordan in my opinion. To me, Thor was more enjoyable at least, and I have yet to see X-Men: First Class still. X-Men: First Class has gotten overall great reviews, despite it being a prequel era storyline. GL has gotten completely mixed reviews, and its dwindling box office seems to agree with this. Transformers 3 just outgrossed it in mere days of release, while it took GL 3 weeks to make the same box office numbers up to that point. GL could be like the recent Fantastic Four movies, where its all jazz but no magic to it. Not good for future DC based movies besides Superman and Batman films. Warner Bros. has to try much better as Marvel, lets face it, is really kicking them in the face with their Marvel Studios company making their movies, whether they are hits or not. GL was a defiinite first step going beyond Batman and Superman regarding the primary characters (aside from doing the more lesser known properties like V for Vendetta, ConstantineThe Losers, and Watchmen in recent years).
