I still expect a sequel to Green Lantern. It's on track to make 300 million worldwide and more than that in DVD sales. The production budget is said to be about 200 million. That doesn't take into account promotion (which is said to be an additional 100 million)--but promotion is usually never counted as part of the production budget.

I think that Warner sees the bigger picture. There will be a pay-off down the road in building this franchise. And maybe an even bigger one if they do a Justice League movie (and I hope Ryan Reynolds will be in that).

But if they don't do a sequel, then don't expect a reboot. There wouldn't be any rationale for doing a reboot. Hulk, Spider-Man, and Superman are known quantities which are expected to do better--so reboots make sense. Green Lantern is an unknown quantity--if the first film underperformed there would be no rationale for a total reboot. A sequel makes more sense--but I hold out hope that Reynolds, Lively, and Strong will all return.
