Right, but we shouldn't believe everything we read from studio PR.  They're still doing their best to salvage the film in theaters, and saying "We screwed up, this film is a flop, the franchise is dead" wouldn't help.  So they downplay the poor box office (the film is "settling in", etc.) and they make it sound like it's full speed ahead for a sequel.  Then, a few years from now, we'll be saying "whatever happened to that Green Lantern sequel they were talking about?"

We won't know for sure for another couple of weeks, but right now I think Green Lantern is on pace to lose more money than any comic book film in history.  This is a big problem for DC, especially after Watchmen and Jonah Hex, which were both huge losers.  Other than Batman, they can't seem to figure out how to adapt their properties for mainstream audiences.  (Comic fans seem to like Green Lantern, as we've seen on this board.)
