Tell you what: to both eyes and Mr. Kayak, what's your factual evidence that DC threw Levitz the Legion a bone, to lure him out of his former job? You have a DC memo saying that? Were you in on the meeting with Levitz and DC--read the sevretary's notes? What facts can you give us to support the Legion is a sacrifical bone to Paul Levitz? And, if none, could you stop promulgating a baseless myth?

i'm glad to explain how i came to that opinion, but it's still an opinion so i won't stop saying it just because you don't agree with it. i'm entitled to think whatever i want, and to talk about that freely. as long as i do it properly, of course, which i always do.

anyway, i don't believe they "lured" levitz out of his old job by promising him to write the legion. i think his current job just sweetened the pill of stepping down from the president seat, that's all. after all, the guy did spend all of his career at DC, and that's more than 30 years.
i don't know if they do it in the US, but here in italy sometimes when a football players retires he's hired by his former team with a dummy job as a sort of a thank you for his past achievements. most football players don't even know how to spell their own name, you know, so for them that's usually very helpful.
i think that, in a way, that's what happened with levitz. i don't have any proof of it, of course, since i don't work at DC. so no memos, sorry. still, i know a few pros and based on what they tell me about their own experiences in the field - and, actually, my own experience as a worker - i think my theory is easily possible.
besides, i couldn't explain any other way how levitz is still writing the legion since his current stories suck (i'd point you out to the tons of pages of reviews i wrote explaining in detail why i think that, but they're all in italian) and the book is selling even less than it did when DC decided to reboot the whole franchise in 2004. i know there's a recession and all, but still.
i understand many old time legion fans love by itself the idea of levitz writing the book, so, as long as they'll feel the need to feed their nostalgia, the regime won't change.
