The figure I am concerned with is the $200 million to make. That's how I judge the cost of a thing with the value I see on the screen. But, yeah, an additional 100 mil in marketing. Yikes!
WB is desperate to find a new franchise. Harry Potter is ending, Noland and Bale are, er, bailing on Dark Knight after the next film...the studio needs to raise a new cash cow! And they're looking to the DC superheroes for that revenue bovine. If GL tanks (which most in the movie biz predict it will) the next hope is that Snyder's SUPERMAN hits with audiences in Dec of '12. If not...is a FLASH movie really viable? A GREEN ARROW? An AQUAMAN? HAWKMAN? Will WONDER WOMAN finally get out of the gate? Who knows......Ten years ago would anyone have predicted live action movies of IRON MAN and THOR would be hits?
