Seriously, I quite enjoyed both runs on Mystique, particularly the Vaughan run. It's presents a Mystique in possession of something remotely like a heart and a conscience, pressed into good guy spy duty. It's a little bit of a departure from the way she was written before (and largely since). Still recommended. Pretty good art throughout; I especially like the Michael Ryan arc.

I also quite enjoyed the series and have considered picking up the collection. I was watching X-Men 2 the other night and thinking that the whole kick-ass spychick Mystique surely started from those movies? I recall her being plenty badass before, but it was never in a physical kind of way.

The movie made a series like MYSTIQUE possible. That's my thinking, but I might be wrong.
