Respectfully, not to anyway diminish the accomplishments of the participants and recognizing that Operation Overlord was an extremely daring endeavor that required tremendous sacrifice from those involved, the turning point of the war actually occurred in the East prior to 1944. Remember, that even after D-Day, the vast majority of Nazi forces and resources were directed at fighting the Soviets. There were 2 decisive battles that sealed the Hitler regime's fate:

The Battle Of Stalingrad that began in 1942 ensured that the Nazis could not win the war.

The Battle of Kursk in 1943 ensured that the Nazis would lose the war.

D-Day was of tremendous importance, not only in shortening the war but also (of vast consideration) in establishing that post-war Europe would not fall completely under Soviet domination.

I feel like giving up the rat race and just becoming a handsome millionaire.
