That was one thing I didn't understand about my father when I was young. At a very early age, I became interested in military matters thanks to a heap of late night war movies and Vic Morrow's COMBAT TV series. I remember being very shocked to learn that my father had served in the Navy during the war (I found a picture of him in uniform). He never mentioned what I thought must have been a grand and glorious time in a young man's life. But he remained very reticent about his service despite my constant attempts to draw out his memories.

Then I came home from Vietnam.

I finally understood.

I feel like giving up the rat race and just becoming a handsome millionaire.
