Conspiracy theorist, much? Smile

I believed she had a legitimate beef, and it concerns a book that would be of some interest to those of us on these boards. No more or less.

Droid, what's your connection to Vince Colletta and/or his family? Tongue

Maybe she has a legitimate beef, maybe she doesn't. But we have no way of knowing, based on what she posted. And based on what she posted, her outrage is wwaayyyy out of proportion to the supposed slight. Which makes me wonder why she bothered to post at all.

And I can't help but wonder why the granddaughter of a comics legend, as well as being an accomplished artist in her own right, would suddenly show up and post on this message board for the first time, just a couple of hours after you posted a link to her rant. These boards have been here for ten years and never once has she posted here before. Coincidence? I think not.

And every post you made on the topic supported her position EMPHATICALLY. I used bolded caps to emulate what you used to forcefully support her position.

Which logically leads to my wondering how she knew to come here and post. And why you felt the need to link to her rant and why you support it so VEHEMENTLY. You certainly have a right to your opinion, but it doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to see an underlying connection.

And you didn't tell us whether you contacted her or not. Did you?

As for my connection to Vinnie Colletta, I have none other than that I enjoy his work. I think it's a disgrace the way the comics community has treated his memory based on their over-rated glorification of Jack Kirby and one man's relentless campaign to destroy him.

The reality is, Kirby was an average artist who had strengths and weaknesses, just like every other artist. Another reality is that Kirby never saw an empty space that he didn't think should be filled up with his artwork. So the fact that Colletta may have cleaned up a panel of Kirby's here or there is a reason to destroy him? The panels that I've personally seen that have had erasures from Colletta were improved, in my opinion.

Colletta had a 40+ year career and probably inked more comics than anyone in the history of the business. And at the time, his audience was thrilled with the finished product, as were his bosses. It wasn't until decades after the fact when Kirby was raised to godhood that Colletta suddenly became a villain.
