I've been listening to various female led symphonic rock/goth metal bands for the past week.  I had no idea there were so many of these types of bands out there.  In many ways they sound very similar.  And there are too many to choose from!  LOL!  But certain songs are stand outs.  Here is an eclectic list of songs I currently enjoy.

1. Faster - Within Temptation (Sharon den Adel): my favorite song these days.  I like everything about it.
2. Stand My Ground - WT
3. The Howling - WT
4. I Like It - Lacuna Coil (Cristina Scabbia): Very ear catching tune in all respects vocally, lyrically, instrumentally.
5. April Rain - Delain (Charlotte Wessels): Charlotte has a clear/clean voice that isn't as high as den Adel's, but nevertheless is pleasant to listen to.
6. Rabbit Hole - In This Moment (Maria Brink): This is a very short, spooky, bizarre song that combines east Indian style chanting with narrative.  I don't care for ITM's other songs as Maria screams the entire time.  But this song was just weird enough to get my attention.
7. My Immortal - Evanescence (Amy Lee): I heard this song years ago when it was first played on the radio; and of course when it was featured in the Daredevil movie.

Addendum 1: I've listened to a lot of Trans-Siberian Orchestra over the years.  They aren't truly a female led band.  But they have some top notch female singers in Kristin Gorman and Erin Henry.  Queen of the Winter Night and Christmas Canon Rock are stand outs.

Addendum 2: Although a prog rock band (not a symphonic metal band), I find The Reasoning to be excellent.  This may be an oversimplification, but (imo) they are like Porcupine Tree with a female lead singer (Rachel Cohen).  Rachel shares vocals with several of the male singers in the band for some nice harmonies.  I think Adverse Camber is their best album.

Addendum 3: My wife introduced me to the music of Ingrid Michaelson several months back.  Michaelson is fun to listen to and I'm very surprised I like her music as I typically don't listen to pop music.  However, Ingrid's pop melodies combined with an incredible voice make for some good listening.  I downloaded all Michaelson's catalogue the other day as a gift for my wife.

Who are some of your favorite female singers/bands from symphonic metal and other genres?  Smile

My name is Oedi and I soar amidst the stars far from the planet of my birth. I guess this starship is the closest thing I've got to a home now, for I am a refugee and an outlaw. Vanth Dreadstar, Syzygy Darklock, Willow 327, Rainbow and Skeevo are my family. We are revolutionaries. Our goal? To bring an end to the 200 year old war between the Instrumentality and the Monarchy!
