Tales of the Zombie were reprinted in the Essential Tales of the Zombie (natch). Several Kull and Solomon Kane stories that appeared in Marvel Mags were also reprinted by Dark Horse. A few other stories from Marvel Preview and Bizarre Adventures - X-men, Elektra, Blade and Punisher - have been reprinted in various collections. Also Rampaging Hulk had two Essential Collections and the Moon Knight stories from Rampaging Hulk were reprinted in a recent hard cover. DC is also going to publish a collection of the Doc Savage magazines.

The influx of magazines was a confluence of factors. Martin Goodman had been publishing magazines for several years. When Marvel broke DCs hold on distribution, they jumped at the chance to 1) take a greater command of the newsstand and 2) circumvent the limitations of the comics code. The magazines did not have to go through the Codes' oversight process.

The likelihood of Marvel reprinting this stuff depends on several factors: demand and rights. There is probably degrees of demand for the various material. I'd love to see the Kazar stuff reprinted. Even the oddities in Monsters Unleashed. Crazy sounds interesting but how many people are familiar with the material? Also, some of the books feature adaptations of stories owned by other writers. Reprinting them might carry a royalty burden that prohibits reprinting. That said, there is some great material out there that unfortunately falls into this problem. Doug Moench and Ploog did a fantastic series in Planet of the Apes but it might be too expensive to get the rights to them.

The anthology titles like Marvel Preview, Bizarre Adventures and Unknown Worlds of Science-Fiction, contain quite a few gems. Something of it is rather unique. Walter Simonson adapted Stephen King's THE LAWNMOWER MAN, the sci-fi noir story Paradox is an interesting gender/species bending work, and John Bolton did an exquisite Thor story in the early 80s.
