I just found out I have an allergy to acetaminophen so I had to replace all my cold meds.
For cough Delsem works better than anything else I've ever used, and I always take more than the recommended amount especially if I'm trying to sleep. I pretty much just swig the stuff whenever I start coughing again and it goes away. There are generics for it but they taste absolutely terrible, I'd spend the extra few bucks. I'd recommend the grape flavor over orange.
For congestion I like Musinex which is like $20 a box but worth it as well. I get the extra strength stuff from behind the counter.
And I take ibuprofen for aches and pains.
