Silver Age
On the heels of Nostalgia Press's EC Horror Library, Cochran issued the first in a series of large (11 1/2" X 16") portfolios of black and white EC stories, shot from original art. Detailed line work that dropped out in the cheaply-produced original comics is wonderfully clear in the portfolios. Six volumes were produced between 1971 and 1977, reprinting 29 stories and 27 covers. Portfolio #1 had a large EC logo embossed on the front; issues #2-6 had alternate Marie Severin colorings of various covers. Portfolio #1 cost $10; subsequent volumes were $15. Print runs were 800 copies of #1, 1,100 copies of #2, and about 1,500 copies each of #3-6. The porfolios led to Cochran's Complete EC Library.
