One of the things I love most about this toilet is the big old tank with its high powered flush. I hate "low flows." They just don't work like the old models. I've also found out that this brand (Sibley)/vintage of toilet goes online for about $300-500, so I'm even more reluctant to give up on it. Other than some tiny surface cracks on the inside of the bowl (and now of course, the crack in the valve), the toilet is in excellent condition. I could possibly sell it to pay for the new one, but the new one will never have the character or the history of this one. (Wow, this is a strange conversation to be having about a toilet!!!)

In the meantime, I'll look into some sort of sealant for the crack while I figure out a more permanent solution. It's just a hairline crack, but the water drains pretty quickly. Anyone have any ideas for this? (Something without acetone please, I'm HIGHLY allergic!!!)
