Wow this volume actually makes me mad!
Petty reasons to be sure, but that's me I suppose.
I JUST bought Xmen vol. 8 a couple weeks ago after debating whether I'd see Defenders #15-16 in a colour collection anytime soon. Defenders was the deal-breaker for me, because I already have the Capt. Amer/FF issues collected in colour and y'just know they're collecting the Avengers issues in the next Masterworks within a year or so.
So, that left 2 MTU's, 3 Hulks and 2 Defenders, which was just barely enough for me to consider that Masterworks. Without the Defenders I wouldn't have bought it!
So, NOW they announce it, not a month prior to save me buying X-Men (sigh) or a month later as to not spoil the contest for me! I feel doubly-cheated!
(And no I wouldn't have gotten vol. 3 of Defenders because the material after #16 doesn't interest me for awhile. So, if vol. 2 ended with issue #14 I would have happily felt Xmen vol. 8 wasn't the sortof waste of money I feel it is now!)
Anyway, I can survive losing my chance at a contest I undoubtably would have lost anyway! (Although IF DD turns out to be next month and not Capt. Marv or IM or some oddball thing, I'll be really upset again!)
However, since I feel so cheated into buying Xmen vol. 8 (that's just how I feel) I've decided to cross off a book on my to-buy list of somewhat equivalent value! So, it's with no amount of regret that I cancel Black Panther vol. 1. I read two of those preachy comics in my youth and hated them anyway, I doubt I would've enjoyed them now!
I feel better now. Aside from the fact that buying this Defenders vol. will seem tainted to me now, no matter how great some of the issues are!
