Nah, what you're expressing is what's described as, I think, the 'realist' approach, where the value of art is absolute, and independent of human views.

Others tend towards the objectivist, where the value of art is absolute, but dependent on general humanity's experience (e.g. common feelings shared by people).

I'm just kinda more of a 'relativist' guy, where art is pretty much dependent on the individual's experience.

To me, comics tends to vary depending on what I get, so I don't much, for example, think of Newsboy Legion as -art-, but as entertainment, where I might think, say, "From Hell" is art.

That said, I never really think of -reprints- as art, I just think of them as reproductions, for the most part, of the original comics. The original comics still exist, if you want to go get them. What you're getting is, basically, someone's re-interpretation of the original. And reinterpretation varies, themselves, as to whether they're art or not, for me!
