But if I misread your comments and you actually meant to say that you aren’t in the publishing business to sell books, well, I just don’t know what to say to that.  Maybe “congrats, mission accomplished” in light of your comments about selecting material to publish that didn’t have sufficient interest to get into Previews?

Personally, I think it's awesome when people find a work they enjoy and do what they can to keep it in print so others can discover it too. I'm pretty sure FFF wasn't an attempting to get rich reprinting obscure 60 year old sci-fi. I'm pretty sure the Library of America isn't expecting to get rich off of it's books either. And acceptance (or lack there of) by Previews magazine is a poor indicator of a products intellectual or cultural worth.

Not everyone who reads comics wants to write, draw, or publish them.  Just like not everyone who watches movies wants to direct, and not everyone who goes out to eat harbors a secret desire to be the next Iron Chef.  For some of us, it is escapism.  And when we are done we go back to the real world with our families, jobs, mortgages…our lives.

Honestly, I can't think of anything I do for escapism that causes me as much ire and distress as collecting these books seems to cause you. Rooting for Seattle sports teams, I suppose.

I'm curious as to who exactly was the intended audience for this book. Fantagraphics has been covering Herriman's
Sunday strips fairly well and for IDW to rush out Krazy & Ignatz stories before Fantagraphics gets to their planned volumes of the daily strips really looks like a bush-league move from a pretty good publisher. Even more so if the book is missing strips that should be included. (However, when Kim Thompson says "a spot check from our resident scanmaster/organizer Paul Baresh confirms that most or all of the ones missing from the Yoe book are in fact part of the 'Tiger Tea' continuity" it is either poor spot checking or blatant disingenuity as some of the dates listed in that TCJ thread are Sunday strips Fantagraphics has already printed and are not part of the Tiger Tea story).
