A look at Gil Kane's bibliography tells you this:

'Green Lantern (vol. 2) #1-61, 68-75, 156, (Green Lantern Corps) #177'

The quality of the art didn't really change, and the stories seemed to be pretty typical, but they wanted to make a change to add new life and to try and be socially relevant.

I'm not sure if they won't just do 'Green Lantern/Green Arrow Showcases' when it comes to Adams, but who knows? I think there's enough material BEFORE that to pretty much wrap up everything prior to GL/GA.

Green Lantern Archives, if you've been observing the OOP Archives thread, still has 1 and 2 available, but not 3 and 4.

As for now:

Hal pretty much, I think, went out of style during the 80s, as Guy Gardner basically was the GL most prominent in that period. The 90s brought back a 'wiser' Hal Jordan, but it didn't sell so well, and they decided to just go with an all-new Green Lantern.

I'm pretty sure Green Lantern as of today may be the DC character that has the most impact on the DC Universe right now, a lot of which has to do with Geoff Johns. I'd heartedly recommend picking up 'Rebirth' and going from there, as it's all a very awesomely good ride from there to Blackest Night.
