MST fans have been making that point for better than 15 years without making any headway at all. There are actually different issues with different movies. Some rights are held by people who are supposedly upset that their movies were mocked and don't want any part of it. Some are held by people who are holding out for more money because of the popularity of the films; as you point out, since this popularity is often due to MST itself, this is kind of dumb. And then there are some rights that are either nearly impossible to track down at this point or held by huge corporations who aren't interested in the relatively small amounts of money to be made. To their credit, Shout! has done a great job of getting the rights to some episodes fans thought they'd never see, like "The Final Sacrifice" in this week's set.

If you can find a copy of the original Volume 10 for a reasonable price, grab it. The only copy I see on eBay at the moment is going for $185. As you probably know, this is the set that was yanked because it turned out that Rhino didn't really have the rights to the Godzilla episode it contained. In the re-released set 10.2 it was replaced by "The Giant Gila Monster" (which is still a pretty good episode). Fans who had bought the original set had the chance to mail in for a single disk version of "Gila." The cool thing to come out of this was an extra on the "Gila" disk, a five-minute film in which Joel and the 'bots, under the direction of Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank, demonstrate how to replace the Godzilla disk in your boxset. It was the first time the actors had appeared as those characters in many, many years.
