Seems like for a while there they were determined to identify what made each character special-- and get rid of it. The Flash is a scientific superhero? Give him Mopee. Green Lantern is a high-flying test pilot? Make him a toy salesman. The Metal Men are, well, metal: Make 'em human-- and "hunted".

I have to wonder what would have happened if DC had decided NOT to try to copy Stan Lee and just kept doing what they'd already proven they did well. Would their comics have been better? Well, some of 'em sure couldn't have been any worse.
