I'm willing to bet that this was not an economically dumb move, but as far as being disrespectful to DC's other characters, I think that the pre-eminence given to Batman on JLA and B&B covers during the height of 'Batmania' was obscene! Not in the pornographic sense, you understand...

And yes, Strange Adventures and MIS crashed and burned, IMHO, after Schwartz was removed from those titles. But to be fair, Adam Strange, one of DC's greatest Silver Age characters, was starting to seem quaint and old-fashioned by the time the Gemini program was in operation. Adam was best-suited to the time when space travel WAS mysterious and unknown.

Yep, Andru/Esposito on Flash was horrible (Infantino is a TOUGH act to follow). Loved A&E on Metal Men and Star Spangled War Stories and Wonder Woman; they were just WRONG for Flash: too 'clunky', for lack of a better word.

And I don't know how/why Metamorpho didn't succeed...he was great! I'm no comic marketing executive (but I DID stay at Holiday Inn...), but there must have been a better way to make him a sales winner. In art and character, he was a Marvel product in DC covers.
