When I went back in 1981-82 and tried obsessively filling in old runs of every title this side of The Mighty Crusaders, I noticed just how fungible the lineups in Adventure had been over the years: Supergirl, Black Orchid, Spectre, then it went to the dollar comic format, then it went to the Plas/Starman double feature emulating Marvel's old TOS/TTA formula. and although I accumulated most of those issues, for the life of me I can't recall the plotlines to a single one.
I think that DC missed an opportunity in the mid-70's. Instead of starting up a brand new comic to feature Superman team-ups (DC Comics Presents), they should have had Supes take over Adventure Comics, just like Batman took over Brave & the Bold. If they had done just that, then it's possible that Adventure would still be published today.

Adventure Comics - #462 (the death of Batman)
I really, really didn't like that issue.

A little SPOILER here for those who are getting the TPB, but haven't read that story yet.

They FINALLY bring back the Golden Age Batman, and what do they do with him? They kill him off... and he dies at the hands of a cosmic powered villain??? That is just SO wrong!
