1. The Holocaust, the events going on during and before the war. Camps, Ghettos, etc.
--- Why does this matter? The world has seen so many atrocities throughout history. What (if anything) made this one special?

2. When the war actually started! Many of my young friends think it started in 1944 with D-Day . But it started in 1939.
--- I can buy this one if you're point is that the war began before the US became involved. I don't think actual dates matter that much if people know the story. Understanding how big the war was helps people broaden their minds and think on a global perspective.

3. Young people should also learn about the Atomic bomb and the devastating results it caused for Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
--- Another good point, although I'd focus on the bomb as new technology and what it's meant to the world's political stability since WWII.
