Well, if it's such a problem, then why don't they try to make a serious WWII drama out of Sgt. Rock? He did have plenty of very hardcore, dramatic storylines over the years. After all, we're not talking about Sgt. Fury and his Looney Tunes; look at some of the grim and gritty Rock tales from the 70s and 80s; some of them were very serious examinations of wartime difficulties. You just cut out the camp and not show the Haunted Tank--there's your movie.
