I am surprised that the Captain America filmed hasn't been renamed Captain United Nations...

The UN isn't as popular as it used to be. Cap's official title in the movie will be "Captain Green Earth".

3. For the time being it doesn't seem like non-drama/straight action big budget films about the US military are a good investment. I don't think it's any big conspiracy and I don't think it's "political correctness" although that's an incredibly vague term at best. All art is subject to trends. Think of all the war titles that DC published in the 60s and 70s. Why can't they sell even one now on a regular basis? By the way, I don't think it's just the USA. I can't think of a single, recent, non-dramatic, pure action WWII - Present war movie made by any country!

Back in the 60's & 70's, people were only a generation or so removed from WWII. It was recent history, therefore is held quite a bit of interest. Today, for many people, WWII is ancient history. Something their grandparents or great-grandparents lived though. It's not surprising that the audience for WWII movies is shrinking.

And finally, if you really want to see a good-live action Sgt. Rock, the 1960's COMBAT series is available on DVD.
