Picked up a pile of 10 World's Finest Dollar Comics between 259-285 in Amsterdam yesterday and they're delightful I have to say. A real grab bag.

The first issue I cracked open (#259) happened to be the prize of the bunch with a Superman/Batman tale by Rich Buckler, doing a very pleasing Neal Adams riff, a Green Arrow/Hawkman story by my main man, Don Newton, Black Lightning (with afro) by Marshall Roges & Mike Nasser and a Shazam vignette by Don Newton again.
Who says lightning doesn't strike twice?!?
Talk about a great surprise.

None of the other issues have quite the same consistent quality but they all contain Don Newton on Shazam, which is the main attraction for me. Besides that, most of them have Buckler on Superman/Batman and even though he is a notorious rip-off artists and his swiping is quite blatant, I still dig his stuff, particulary when he is channelling Adams rather than Kirby.
They also contain a lot of Green Arrow by Trevor van Eeden, whose work is a lot better here than I recall elsewhere and even the Alex Saviuk/Rodin Rodriguez Hawkman work is uncannily reminiscent of Murphy Anderson.

These mothers contained enormous value, quality and variety for a mere buck. Marvellous stuff.
