Note that the concept behind Daring Mystery was a monthly book presenting a lot of new features every issue, and the readers would vote on their favorites, thus being able to decide what the lineup of the book would become. The 3 first issues thus present completely different lineups, and issue 4 and up give us both what was voted popular and some new strips they want to see if the readers will like. It's not a bad concept in itself, and it's been done with success many times elsewhere, but they really should've tried to keep the first three issues more connected. Even if a reader liked issue 1, there's no incentive to pick up issue 2, since it won't feature anything from the first.

The kids show good taste, though, Fiery Mask and Monako are by far the best features here. I'd have liked to see more of John Steele, though.

Out yonder, under the shining vault, among men the saying goes: 'Man, be thyself!'
At home here with us, 'mid the tribe of the trolls, the saying goes: 'Troll, to thyself be-enough!'
