Sure, it sounds like an innovative gimmick for about five minutes, but it makes no sense - how could a planet covered in ice support human, animal, and plant life for any great length of time?


I think it's been established that it's not ice, Krypton in the original Donner film was a planet based on crystals. Most of the subsequent Superman mythos has adopted that same idea.
