Bric, Yuku has twice now refused to send my IM reply because it's "performing maintenance". Yes I agree we worked it out, if there was even anything to work out. You're one of my favorite board members, I wouldn't think we should ever have much of anything to work out privately.

I've been saving these gorgeous Thompson animal illos for a couple weeks and trying to dole them out slowly because I don't have anything else to contribute in regard to these rudimentary stories other than Namor. (I think the illos by themselves are good posts for the thread even when I have nothing to say about the story, which I would've thought would come as a relief to some. image ) Tonight I thought as long as you and I were in the thread I would get a few of them posted at the same time. Since you asked: no, there are no intended hidden pointed digs in my use of those particular pics. The captions in the pics are not intended to relate to anything, these are just the most gorgeous illos I found and scanned a couple weeks ago. I can see how you could think "warning" and "anger" and "watch" were hidden messages but on my kid's life they weren't. If you look through the first three Ka-Zar stories I think you'll agree that these are simply the most beautiful illos. (Plus I don't think I could have found such captions so quickly, plus scanning them and posting them.) My only obvious message to the rest of the board members, which I tried to convey in my own added text while including the animal illos as whimsical, was that you and I were hopefully done with any private IM argument about tonight's Marathon posts. I'm not really into board drama and just prefer to post about stories and art and history of the medium and such. If anything I'd say it's probably not necessary to tell the board that you're talking to me privately about our posts (e.g. "keep checking your mail"), you could just send me the IM's, that's sufficient. Otherwise I think it's in effect announcing to the board that there's a private argument, and I wanted to dispell that notion and get back to posting in the thread. Your "glad we agree" and "bodes well for the future" comments totally confused me, I just didn't understand them and there seemed obvious underlying tones to such phrases, which seemed from left field to me and I didn't know what you were implying with them. But I honestly wasn't sending hidden messages in return - the captions in these particular illos are unfortunate. I'm not that devious or clever. So I think it was simply an evening of misunderstanding on both our parts, but I'm glad we don't have any problem with each other that I know of.

If I had realized that the captions and specific poses could be taken as relating to you, I would have waited until tomorrow to post them. It was just getting some saved scans posted while I was here because there are other threads that have been taking a ton of my time, like the Norrin's Casting Couch and Doctor Who and Sub-Mariner, not to mention the Silver Age Marathon.

But really, aren't these Thompson illos beautiful? I love the way he draws animals. It reminds me a little of some of Gerhard's work in Cerebus.
