Silver Age but only until about mid-way through 1963. Quality goes down markedly in 1964.

I always thought the apparent drop in quality was all in my head!

I turned 15 in December 1963, and I thought that I'd just outgrown Uncle Mort's Superman titles. I had the same feeling to a lesser extent towards most of the DC comics. It seemed like DC was trying too hard to emulate the hipness with which Stan Lee was imbuing the Marvel Universe, and the results were embarrassing.

I've been awaiting the next Showcase Presents Superman volume, which gets into the later '60s, to see if the quality actually dips, or if I had indeed passed beyond the target audience's age.
