My all-time favorite era of Superman is 1971-72, when things were changing radically, but had not yet reached a new status quo.

It was the age of Swanderson to be sure, but often overlooked is the role of Jack Kirby - his reimagining of Superman's world in the pages of Jimmy Olsen, which ran concurrently with the acclaimed "Sand Superman" saga, had just as significant an impact IMO.

Second favorite would the Weisinger years 1959-64.

"As for contentment, that is a myth.  Give a man everything he wishes and he will be unhappy, because he didn't wish for more; give him more, and he will die of his worries.  Only a turtle, asleep on a sunny log, knows contentment!"
