Misrule, I love those 70s reprint books as well, where you might find a gruesome pre-code story bundled with an enigmatic post-code tale right along with a 13-page Kirby monsterfest.

I also love books like Marvel Collector's Item Classics, where you could read classic FF, Iron Man, Dr. Strange and Hulk tales all under one cover.

But, we're talking about the Masterworks line. I don't think the Collector's Item Classics approach would work for most Masterworks collectors.

Likewise, I think the mix-and-match anthology approach, even for genre material, is better suited to trade paperbacks, rather than prestige hardcovers which are geared to providing a historical record.

Having said that, I could support hardcover anthologies of some material in certain genres.

And, now that I think about it, Dead of Night would be a done-in-one, wouldn't it? image
