A Half-Assed Dr Strange Casting, If It Were a Comedy!

By the Mystic Moons of Munopoor, may it never be so!

But all comedy aside, you raise an important issue and that is, what "genre" of Dr. Strange should be played in the movie? Throughout the history of the comic book, he's had several versions of himself, some with more humor, some with less. Now obviously, he should be the arrogant surgeon turned Master of the Mystic Arts with sober responsibilities protecting earth from mystic madness, etc. But how somber/moody should he be? And what role does humor play in the development of his character. Some should be included. But too much humor would ruin the character and turn the whole movie into a farce rather than a serious and thoughtful movie about a transformed character. That's what makes Dr. Strange both interesting and unique amongst the comic book movies. His change from civilian to "superhero" is not because of radiation, or chance, or science, or mutant genes, etc. His change is spiritual and if Hollywood gets that right, then we are in for an excellent movie! image

My name is Oedi and I soar amidst the stars far from the planet of my birth. I guess this starship is the closest thing I've got to a home now, for I am a refugee and an outlaw. Vanth Dreadstar, Syzygy Darklock, Willow 327, Rainbow and Skeevo are my family. We are revolutionaries. Our goal? To bring an end to the 200 year old war between the Instrumentality and the Monarchy!
