ADAM STRANGE is DC's most intelligently written series of the silver age. It also has superb artwork by Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson.

TODD TAMANEND CLARK

Todd's almost always right, and he certainly is here. I'd suggest starting with Vol. II though, since the first issue has some less than stellar art. But get 'em all.

Others:

Silver Age Hawkman Vol. I. Amazing Joe Kubert art--if you like the stories than get the second volume with Anderson art.

Enemy Ace ditto on the Kubert art but, like many of the DC books don't try to read too many stories at once. They tend to be alike. Same goes for the Sgt. Rock books.

Supergirl: These books have a certain charm but they were aimed at ten year olds and sometimes that really shows. Try Vol. I.

Golden Age: Try Shazam Family and a later volume of Plastic Man. The art and stories get better as the series goes on. I liked Blackhawk Archives but then I'm all for killin' Nazis...image

Spirit: the post war issues (13?) when Eisner was at his peak.
