It's pretty fascinating to read Marvel Comics #1. As I mentioned in the Silver Age Marathon thread, I'll save my Sub-Mariner comments for the Subby review thread I want to create in the Discussion/Review forum, since I want to cover many more than his first three stories before we review Tales to Astonish 70 next month. I'm planning to read and review Marvel Mystery Comics 1-17, Sub-Mariner Comics 1-4 and 33-42, Human Torch Comics 2-5, Young Men 24-28, and maybe the first couple All-Winners . If there are other Masterwork volumes people would suggest I get in addition, thanks to let me know.

As for the other features in MC 1, I can't find as much to say as I usually can for a Silver Age story, but I do like Ben Thompson's art, and it's interesting to meet the original Human Torch.

"I'm burning alive! Why must everything I touch turn to flame?...It looks like a pool in there - perhaps that will put out this flame!" He dives into the pool.

I kind of like reading a western for a change - Jim Gardley, the Masked Raider. This makes me want to become a Lone Ranger fan and maybe check out Jonah Hex or something.

I usually think of Torch, Namor, and Cap as the original three GA Marvel heroes, but it looks like Ka-Zar goes back just as far. I kind of wish I'd read these before we reviewed X-Men 10, but I'm at the mercy of the publishing schedule, so no big deal.

I really really love the alternate cover for the Golden Age Marvel Comics Omnibus. Djurdjevic's Torch is outstanding.
