As usual, James Friel and I had carbon-copy experiences as kids.
EXCEPT THIS TIME I'M ONE UP ON YOU, PAL!
I bought all of the Silver Age issues listed right off the spinner racks!

Sigh. Sorry, James! After all this time of your one-upping me, mostly due to that tiny age advantage you have, I let my envy get the better of me.

My intro to he Golden Age issues was probably the same as yours.

However, the early Superman annuals never reprinted anything older than the 1950s, the exception being small reproductions of covers to Action #1 and Superman #1 -- nothing from the interior, unless it was that one-page origin recap.

And Pfeiffer's book reprinted the Joker story from Batman #1, and a one-page origin from the same issue.

I didn't see Action #1 or Det. #27 until the over-sized reprint series in the '70s. Capt. America I too first read in Pfeiffer.

Good times; good times!
