I got the Essential X-Factor volume 1 and then after reading gave it away. Like Fubar said, the concept was weak and the whole Jean Grey thing made a mockery of X-Men #137 as far as I was concerned.

I loved the original X-Men even though over half of the issues were pretty lame. There was a quirkiness about them and they never really seemed to mix well with other heroes. They were real outsiders but as others have said the book was let down by poor story lines, second rate villains and a mishmash of artists.

When they were good I did enjoy them though. Apart from the early issues with JK and the Sentinels tale I also enjoyed The Mimic, Super-Adaptoid, 'Along came a spider', X-Men vs Avengers and the later Adams issues are all favourites.
#66 with the Hulk in Las Vegas was one of my favourite comics as a kid.
