I'm not downgrading or dismissing the difficulties of any sport. It's all very tough on a professional level no matter what you play.

I'm just saying that when the greatest hitters in the history of the sport were successful about 30% of the time that they stepped up to the plate, it says something about the difficulty of the act. If hitting was only about turning fastballs around, then yes, it probably would not be as difficult. of course, that is the farthest thing from the truth about successfully hitting major league pitching.
