Strange is really gambling with the fate of humanity, though, which makes the story that much more interesting. He has no real guarantee that T. Dastardly Dormammu won't change his mind (and his morals) and decide to wipe out mankind just out of anger at Strange.

Strange already realized that he's no match for TDD, and this was his one chance to let him be killed by creatures from his own Domain.

If this was a 1980's storyline, it would be cool to see some New Yorkers get wind of this development (Mordo conveniently lets it slip) and then it becomes a national story, and protesters surround Strange's Sanctum, demanding he cease and desist his arcane activities if he's going to favor otherworldly denizens at the expense of his own planet. Then TDD proves their point by invading the Sanctum (he wants to make it his Dorm room), and Strange is forced to teleport the protesters to TDD's Domain to escape him. They make friends with some folks there and some of them change their attitudes. The ones that don't never make it back to Earth and have to live out their lives in the Domain.

If the Sons haven't been reading Hulk, next month is the best month to start, for obvious reasons.
