Not a bad issue. We really get the feeling that the X-Men graduated, and they don't necessarily need Prof X to take care of things for them. At the same time I understand AdamA's point about humans mistrusting the mutants because Xavier wanted them to remain hidden, so I guess the Beast's decision to take a hike makes sense! He's the smartest one of them... And the way the Beast then defeated Unus was clever! But of course it had nothing to do with the mutant powers of the X-Men.

Art by Kirby and Stone is mostly great, of course. VF has scanned many panels from this issue, so I won't do that, but the fight scenes are very dynamic, and you can really see the longing on Scott's face in the panel 3 on page 3. Some great Kirby Machinery here and there as well. But am I the only one who thinks that the perspective on splash page is slightly off?

But gee whiz, why UNUS? I know it sorta rhymes with the Untouchable, but didn't Stan consider that it's -- um -- pretty close to something else? Well, maybe the kids reading the book in 1964 were not quite so up-to-date with their anatomy lessons...
