Roy Thomas wrote that he remembered hearing rumors at the time that Martin Goodman (God bless his kind soul) met with Fawcett Publications, who published Captain Marvel "Shazam" then, and they ended up coming to some sort of an agreement that allowed Fawcett to continue with Captain Marvel. Little did Goodman know that particular character would out sell Captain America Comics.
