Roy Thomas knows about as much about nuclear science as he does about Red Ravens...
Ummmm, Sue? Atomic bombs don't glow...
(Well, theoretically, they could as they detonate, but that would last a faction of a nanosecond and certainly not long enough for one to notice, let along get off some dialogue. Assuming you could hold the bomb as she's holding Richard, in the next instant she'd be fried/melded by the radiation and the next obliterated to atoms by the blast. All in span of time so brief the nerves could never have time to transfer the sight to her brain before it was destroyed.)

A. Leedom, who's seen a couple in his time plus photos of scores. They look pretty much like other bombs. Bigger, but the same. If you're old enough, there was a time when the US had SAC bombers flying around with 20 megaton bombs ready to go. In times of crisis this was 24/7. (To give you a perspective... that's the power of 20,000,000 tons of TNT. The Hiroshima bomb was anywhere from 8 to 14,000 tons of TNT. In other words, the Hiroshima bomb was a small firecracker compared to the H-Bombs.)
