I don't view Whedon's dialogue as necessarily "uber-hip," just his personal style...in the same way that Aaron Sorkin and David Mamet, or to use some more comics-specific examples, Bendis and...well, just Bendis (I'm totally blanking here). I can understand that it might grate, though; I'm a big fan, and it doesn't always ring true for me either. Very heightened, "written" stuff.

I read this run in piecemeal via trades, and I'm tempted to pick this up depending on how the size works out; I'm finding generally I don't like the big Omniboo as reading material because they're not really comfortable for me. But if it's not outrageously huge, and is a nice presentation, I could be tempted...
