One place I order from, shrink wraps the books to a larger piece of cardboard and tapes it around, so they don't shuffle, and then fills with peanuts.

I spent a summer in college working at the Post Office.
(technically a Post Office sorting facility within RR Donnelley's because they are THAT BIG to have 8-10 Post Office employees. I think they had their own Zip Code.)

It gave me a whole new perspective and appreciation for how the system works, and also how easy it is for something to get sent to the wrong way. Especially trying to read someone's handwriting "Is that an "8" or a "3"???" This was around 1988 before everything was computerized more efficiently.

But just seeing the MASSIVE amount of mail that moves through the system, just from out tiny spot. The amount of errors or problems is an extremely tiny percentage of the whole.
