Daniel Best --

My complaint with your blog post (and it's a complaint, not a personal attack) is that you base a fairly big accusation on small evidence. You mention 30 or so re-drawn pages in the 800+ page Spider-Man omnibus, and speculate that the ENTIRE book may be redrawn. You claim "the bulk" of Iron Man Masterworks Vol. 4 is redrawn, but your evidence for this is around 30 pages.

A simpler explanation is also possible -- that the redrawn pages you cite are the only ones, and the rest of the books are restored from original sources. After all, there are examples of Masterworks with NO redrawn pages, the most recent Thor volume being one of those.

And it may be that Marvel doesn't credit the redrawn pages in these books simply because they don't see a distinction between this type of restoration and the various other methods. Whether that's fair or not is open to debate, and I actually agree with you that these pages SHOULD be listed in the credits.

In any event, I think that (in most cases) the simplest explanation is the correct one, and there's no need to assume some sinister underlying purpose.
