Richard Widmark died March 24 and didn't even get a popcorn fart of recognition. He was every bit the equal of his contemporaries, Heston, Peck, and Douglas.
Sometimes oversights are made. TCM did have a Richard Widmark night on Friday - a western, an army flick, and a light bit of fluff called The Tunnel of Love with Doris Day and Gig Young. I'd never seen it before and found it quite entertaining; very similar to Doris' later movies with Rock Hudson and Tony Randall. Widmark seemed just as comfortable in comedies as in action/drama's.

I gotta see the restored version of Major Dundee with Heston though. I hear they did some significant additions that were edited out of the theatrical release and TV versions we've been seeing for the last few decades.
