"I don't see why the rest of the world gets to feel so damn superior. I am not shallow, and I am not a bad person--whatever you choose to believe based upon one offhand adjective and your pre-judgment of my former location and profession."

I judge you based on your own self-chosen word usage. Denigrating a normally shaped person by calling them "chubby" is an attempt to injure them, when they have done nothing against you. It was no self-defense of any kind, it was a pure and simple attack against a person who hasn't done a single thing against you. Oh, but it's supposed to be okay because it's a psychological attack instead of a physical one? The repeated, society-wide constant barrage of words exactly like that has done more harm to the young generation of women than any gunmen or terrorists ever have.

"I don't see what the Hollywood mentality towards looks has to do with Somalia."

The point is, if there is a region in the world where a certain negative behavior is more prevalent than usual (such as insulting normal women in Hollywood, or elevated levels of violence in Somalia) then you don't need to bring that with you when you come from that region. Saying "oh, it's okay where I come from" is no excuse in my book. In Afghanistan only ten years ago, in Iran even today, women were/are stoned for minor things. Are we supposed to accept that because it's usual where they come from? No, I judge things by my local own moral standards, and by them, stoning women for minor offenses is deplorable, and so is insulting normal-shaped women and trying to make our young generation into neurotics and bulimics. One is physical assault, one is psychological, but neither is acceptable in my book, no matter how usual it is where you come from.

I believe I have explained my stance sufficiently well. Close the thread or not, I have spoken my peace.
