This was a good week for Amanda to go. It was a merciful end before she really started embarrassing herself. I can't see her as a recording artist in any way. She should stick to having fun playing with the good ol' boys at the biker bars. Still, Kudos to her for getting this far when you think about how many people audition for this show!

I was really annoyed by Simon's comments to David Cook. When he accused him of being smug, I wish he simply would have said the following: "Well, Simon, I'm a rock and roll singer...how am I supposed to act? Humble? Subdued? Tentative? How many successful rock singers do you know that act like that?" David C is one of the most talented people on that stage and he knows it. What's wrong with showing it now and then? It's much more refreshing than all of the stupid surprised looks at every positive comment by the judges!

Hey, is anyone else very underwhelmed by the announced mentors?

Dolly Parton - OK, she's a decent choice for country night
Mariah Carey - Is she still in the business?
Andrew Lloyd Webber - Huh???
Neil Diamond - Is he still alive? If so, what kind of vocal coaching could he possibly offer?
